UWYO Multicultural Affairs Speaker Series: Schuyler Bailar
"Schuyler Bailar (he/him) is an educator, advocate, and author of He/She/They:
How We Talk About Gender and Why It Matters. At Harvard, Schuyler became the first transgender athlete to compete in any sport on an NCAA Division 1 men's team. Schuyler's exemplary work has earned him numerous honors including NYC Pride Grand Marshall, the Out100, LGBTQ Nation's Instagram Advocate of the year, and the Harvard Director's Award. In addition to being one of the top LGBTQ+ educators, Schuyler is a leading DEI speaker and advisor who has been featured in countless media outlets. He offers diverse avenues for learning through his podcast "Dear Schuyler," his online workshops, his fiction novel, Obie Is Man Enough, and his groundbreaking gender literacy online learning series, LaneChanger.com. Schuyler holds a degree in Cognitive Neuroscience and Evolutionary Psychology from Harvard, and continues his academic pursuits in four research labs focusing in clinical psychology and public health."
This event is free and open to the public, and available in-person or live streamed via WyoCast. A book signing will be offered following the keynote.

Trans Day of Remembrance
Join Laramie PrideFest and our community partners Albany County SAFE Project, Laramie Reproductive Health, and Wyoming Equality, in the Phoenix Ballroom (2nd Floor) of the Laramie Plains Civic Center to honor the past year’s victims of homicide against against trans and gender expansive individuals. Storytellers from the 2SLGBTQIAP+ community will share words of reflection and their lived experiences. After storytelling, a candlelight vigil will be held to honor the victims of fatal transphobic attacks in 2023. Electric candles will be supplied by Laramie PrideFest.
This event is free and open to the community, and follows the 6:00 PM Transgender Day of Remembrance Memorial Service at St. Paul's United Church of Christ in Laramie.
The best entrance to access the Phoenix Ballroom is on the corner of 7th and Garfield. Attendees can take the stairs on the right to get to the ballroom. Those in need of an elevator can use the entrance on the corner of 8th and Custer and take the elevator to the second floor to get to the ballroom.

Scream Queens, Kings & In-Betweens
Join Laramie Pridefest at the Gryphon Theatre on October 20th at 7 PM in celebrating Halloween early with our drag and burlesque show fundraiser “Scream Queens, Kings & In-Betweens.” You don’t want to miss the spooktacular gender bending event celebrating all things drag and burlesque. This is an Adult (18+) and ticketed event open to community members (we will be checking ID’s at the door). Alcohol sales will be available for 21+ community members.
Pride Outside: Leaf Peeping Hike
Laramie PrideFest is excited to begin an Outdoor Series, Pride Outside, of events for our community! Join us in October for a leaf-peeping hike. Bring a friend, get out in nature, and enjoy the crisp autumn air. 🍂🍁
Remembering Matthew Shepard - 25th Memorial Event
Sunday, October 8th, 2023 at 7 p.m. Laramie Pridefest and the Shepard Symposium for Social Justice will be hosting a memorial event at the Library Sports Bar & Grille (formerly the Fireside Lounge), to honor, recognize and be present with one another while remembering Matthew Shepard.
This event will feature speakers who will reflect on their own experiences being a part of both the LGBTQ+ and Laramie community and what Matthew Shepard’s legacy means to them. There will be a moment of silence along with a candlelight vigil held at the end, remembering Matthew Shepard and all those in marginalized communities who continue to be affected by hate crimes today.
Public Board Meeting & Elections
Please join us for the public portion of our next board meeting if you are interested in joining the board of Laramie PrideFest, joining a committee to help plan year-round events, or if you’d like to provide feedback or suggestions for PrideFest or other events! The public portion of the meeting will be from 12:00PM - 1:00PM and will be hosted at the Divine Eats storefront, 211 Grand Ave.
Pridefest Boogie with the Collective
Join LPF and the Collective for a mindful dance party in a club-like setting to popular dance music.
The intention behind this time is to move your body and be able to lose yourself in the rhythm of fun dance music.
During time on the dance floor, dancers are asked to just dance by themselves unless invited to dance together. Talking is asked to be taken to the lobby so that the studio may be kept as a dance floor.
Chalk & Proclamation - Laramie PrideFest March
Attend the annual Pride March and Proclamation Reading the morning of Saturday, June 17th to show our home town that we are here and we are not going anywhere. Laramie Pridefest keeps our focus on the legacy of where Pride began: the 1969 Stonewall Riots, and we will never lose sight of the history around our fight for equal rights in the U.S. and right here at home. Starting at 9 am we're joined by the Laramie Main Street Alliance to fill First Street Plaza with positive chalk drawings and affirming messages. At 10 we will begin the Proclamation Reading and march throughout downtown, to the courthouse and back along Grand.
Drag Karaoke
Join Laramie Pridefest at The Great Untamed for Drag Karaoke! Let's sing, dance, and enjoy talented drag performers! No cover charge, just bring tips for the performers. 20% of all bar proceeds will be donated to Laramie Pridefest! Join us in a supportive and welcoming atmosphere full of camaraderie and joy.
Pridefest Trivia
Come join Laramie Pridefest for a fabulous, festive, and FREE LGBTQIAP2S+ trivia night Thursday, June 15th from 6-7:30 PM at The Grounds Internet and Coffee Lounge. We will have fun prizes, Laramie Pridefest merch to help support the cause, and specialty drinks will be available for purchase! Come join for fun, socializing, and community building! We can’t wait to see you there!
Craft-a-Flag
Join Laramie Pridefest and the UW Art Museum for an evening of creating your own flag. Fabric, paint, and other materials will be provided. FREE and open to all ages!
Tales at the Taphouse
LPF is pleased to be partnering with Tales at the Taphouse during Pridefest week! Tuesday, June 13th, 6:30-8:30 PM we'll be listening to queer stories at the Historic Train Depot for a marvelous event!
Book Club Night
Join us for a discussion of this year's #1 banned book “Gender Queer: A Memoir” by Maia Kobabe (e/em/eir). This graphic novel will take you on a journey through Kobabe's childhood and young adult years as it navigates gender identities outside the binary. A casual meet and greet will start at 6:30 PM with a guided discussion from 7PM - 8PM at Night Heron Books & Coffeehouse.
The book will be available for purchase at The Second Story Bookstore - a limited number of copies are on hand starting June 2nd!
Dungeons & Demis: RPGs & Board Games
The Dragon & Phoenix is honored to host a PRIDEFEST Game Day Extravaganza on June 11th from 1-4pm!
This is a free event to attend and everyone is truly welcome.
Join in the fun by participating in a Dungeons & Demis Role Playing Game or learn to play any of our open games. Tarot Card Readings will also be available by donation and all profits will be donated back to Laramie Pridefest.
LGBTQ+ Affirming Yoga Fundraiser
Join LPF for a beginner and disability friendly yoga session in Washington Park’s west field as we engage in a hatha yoga led by Rose Gardner. This is a fundraiser to benefit Laramie Pridefest, so we ask that you donate between $5, $7, $10, or MORE! Come enjoy a mindful yoga practice as we get ready for an amazing Pride week!
We ask that you bring your own yoga mat and a rolled up towel. Come in your most colorful and glorious attire. There will be a limited amount of blocks and straps provided by Rose.

This event has been canceled due to scheduling conflicts and is planned to be rescheduled in the fall of 2023. More to come.
Pride on The Patio
It’s time for some relaxation and community building at Laramie Pridefest and Cowgirl Yarn’s annual “Pride on the Patio”. Come relax, craft, sew and catch up with old friends and make new friends on the back patio of Cowgirl Yarn.
Know Your Rights Training with ACLU Wyoming
Join Laramie Pridefest and the ACLU of Wyoming for a Know Your Rights Training. Antonio Serrano, Advocacy Director at the ACLU of Wyoming and Founder of Juntos, will be giving an overview of an individual's constitutional rights when interacting with law enforcement, at protests and demonstrations and other settings. Now more than ever it is important to know how to keep you and your friends safe and what to expect when in these situations.
Matthew Shepard Candlelight Vigil
Join Laramie Pridefest and Multicultural Affairs at the University of Wyoming for an evening to come together as a community to reflect, remember, and honor the legacy of Matthew Shepard and acknowledge the violence and discrimination that happens to marginalized communities still to this day. This annual event will be filled with speeches from Laramie/Albany County and University of Wyoming community members, followed by a moment of silence. Post vigil reflection space will be held in the Rainbow Resource Center (Wyoming Union room 106) from 8:30pm-9:30pm. This event is free and open to the community.
Prideluck: A University of Wyoming Pride Potluck
Join University of Wyoming Colleges, Departments & Student Organizations all across campus for Prideluck: A University of Wyoming Pride Potluck, a kick off event for Laramie Pridefest Pride Month 2023! There will be a variety of food options from UW catering, outdoor games, and free pride month items available. This event is free and open to the public, and will lead up to the annual Matthew Shepard Candlelight Vigil.
